Xenical- an oral drug, a specific inhibitor of gastrointestinal lipases, which carry out the digestion of fats. The drug decreases mainly the mass of visceral-abdominal fat.
Xenical also helps reduce hypercholesterolemia - in view of the decrease in the amount of free fatty acids and monoglycerides in the gut lumen - the solubility of cholesterol decreases, which reduces its ability to penetrate the blood.
Due to the normalization of the lipid composition of the blood, the sensitivity of the tissues to insulin increases, the hyperinsulinemia decreases, which also contributes to a decrease in the mass of visceral-abdominal fat.
The drug may cause such side effects as GI tract sides, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance, anxiety.
